The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) received a petition for the anti-graft agency to probe the Godswill Akpabio, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, and Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei, the Acting MD. of the NDDC.
The Foundation for True Freedom and Good Governance and an activist, Deji Adeyanju have been invited to adopt the petition. The adoption is a practice which enables the commission to verify the signatories before the investigation begins.
The duo are currently under investigation by the House of Representatives over the diversion of an estimated 81.5 billion Naira.
The initial probe was very interesting involving many noteworthy escapades which involved the former Acting MD seeking succour in the abode of the state governor, Nyesom Wike, the episode with the current Acting MD fainting and the popular ‘Off Your Mic’ episode were Godswill Akpabio named Reps. whom he claimed were major beneficiaries.
In a related matter, the House of Representatives have also disclosed that the investigation by the EFCC will in no way stall the ongoing investigation by the lawmakers. The House Spokesman, Benjamin Kalu disclosed that the case will resume once recess is over.
