SARAKI family receives court injunction

The family of the late Olusola Saraki has received an ex-parte injunction that restrains the Kwara State Government from further demolishing Saraki’s property.

The property popularly referred to as Ile Arugbo was suddenly demolished by the state government despite protests from a group of individuals on grounds that the property was not issued a government lease, an allegation Bukola Saraki has challenged.

Currently, the court has ruled that the State Government should not go near the land or attempt to construct or do anything on the land pending the determination of the Motion on Notice.

However, the Kwara State Government denies receiving any court order, read comments from the Communications Commissioner, Murtala Olarenwaju as published by the Premium Times

“Contrary to the claims by the opposition, the physical reclamation of the property by the government on 2 January 2020 was without any incident. Nobody was met on the property. It was never a place where people lived in, so the question of ejecting, maltreating or deploying violence against anyone did not arise. No court process has been served on the government.”
