Raheem Sterling named FWA Footballer of the Year

Raheem Sterling has been voted as the Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers’ Association.

The England international lost the PFA Player of the Year award to Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk but finished well ahead of the Dutchman in the voting process to win the award while his City teammate, Sergio Aguero came in third.

Raheem Sterling’s 17 goals and 10 assists in the league has helped Manchester City to the summit of the Premier League standings.

His role off the pitch has been impressive, having fought against racism and campaigned for harsher punishments for those found guilty of the discriminatory behavior.
