The convener of To Build A Nation (TBAN), Kingsley Moghalu has reacted to the recent balkanization of the Kano Emirate by the Kano state government.
In a press release on Friday, Moghalu emphasized that the act of dissolving the emirate into smaller units was an unhealthy development.
in his statement, Moghalu stated that the traditional rulers should not be seen as tools for the government but rather should be able to express their views independently abpout the governance of the country.
The convener of TBAN also stated that the ‘politicization of traditional stools’ corrodes the integrity of the traditional institutions and would create instability for the historical institutions.
He further stated that the Kano emirate is a thousand years old whose tradition is to be preserved and nurtured rather than diminished for political purposes.
Moghalu ended his statement by stating that the people are to choose their traditional leaders rather than being appointed by the political leaders.
