Nigeria re-opens her land borders

The Federal Government has ordered the re-opening of Nigeria’s land borders earlier shut due to the general elections.

The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Muhammad Babandede said the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, gave the directive following the postponement of the Presidential and National Assembly elections to next week Saturday.

Mr. Babandede said “Nigeria Immigration Officers will continue their normal border control and patrol duties to ensure that all persons crossing our land, air and sea borders travel with a valid and genuine document and also pass through recognised routes.”

The service had earlier deployed its rapid response squad and other personnel numbering over ten thousand to the land borders and the hinterland as part of measures to prevent infiltration of the country by foreigners.
