Buhari embarks on first foreign trip after inauguration

Just a few hours after his 2019 presidential election inauguration, President Muhammadu Buhari has embarked on his first foreign trip.

The president’s senior special assistant in media and publicity, Garba Shehu, in a statement on Wednesday, May 29 said that President Buhari will depart Abuja on Thursday, May 30, to attend the Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Shehu added that President Buhari is expected to address the forum at the summit and underscore the need for member countries to unite and work together to combat common challenges such as terrorism and violent extremism.

The 14th session of the Summit Conference of the OIC, is scheduled to hold on May 31. It will be hosted by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and attended by Heads of States and governments of member states.
