Abdel Fatteh tightens rein on Internet Freedom in Egypt

Abdel Fattah recently signed a new law that tightens control over internet use in Egypt. The Law mandates that all websites which could pose cybercrime or national security threats could be shut down.

In addition to that, Individuals who own or visit such websites could face a Prison Fine. With an estimated 500 sites already blocked before the enactment of the law, there is no doubt that the law will be enforced greatly.
